About Social Classes

Because “Flatland” is an abstract representation of Victorian Class System I  thought it would be important to research into this direction as well and make a comparison beetween real life history and elements represented in the novel.

A website created by Chanel 4 named “Time travelers Guide to Victorian Britain” provides a great body of detailed characterized information on historical record of the time.

I was amazed at how close the historical facts fall into the events and characteristics described in the novel. The most important information that I found was a close description of social classes present at the time.

Here is small diagram I have created to show how the historical classes are represented in the novel.
